Yao Zheng, Stephen Maxwell
This paper describes a rare Cinguloterebra from the water of northwestern West Australia collected by remotely operated vehicle. At present, there are only four known specimens of Cinguloterebra stricklandi Zheng and Maxwell, sp. nov., which can be distinguished form others in the genus by colour and morphological features. The new species is described based on morphology and its differing distinctive spiral threads. This species adds to the growing number of recently discovered taxa that has resulted from remotely operated vehicle exploratory expeditions in deep water on the continental shelf targeting Mollusca, and it is only with the generosity of those explorers that papers such as this are made possible.
