The process of creating economically significant biomaterials and biomolecules using biological systems, such as cells, enzymes, or organisms, is known as biomanufacturing. Pharmaceuticals, food and beverage, chemicals, and biofuels are among the businesses that employ these materials. The process for creating solid and porous biomedical implants was thoroughly studied to ensure their effective use. Technologies such as electrospinning, additive manufacturing, and powder metallurgy have been identified as promising approaches for creating porous, mechanically adjustable ceramic and metallic implants for use in medicine. The chapter discusses the transformations in biomanufacturing, fundamentals of bioprocessing, and biomanufacturing, innovations in bioprocessing, need of bio-based economy, biological systems, progress in biomanufacturing, case studies of bioprocesses, overview of biomaterials, manufacturing process for porous implants, investment and strategic alliances to boost commercial biomanufacturing, challenges and limitations in bioprocessing and biomanufacturing, and future prospects of biomanufacturing.
