Advancements in additive manufacturing, mostly called 3D printing, are transforming the biomedical sector by facilitating the production of complex, patient-specific tissues and equipment. Surgical planning, medical education, implant design and manufacturing, and the establishment of customized drug delivery systems are just a few of the medical domains where additive manufacturing technologies find its application. With an emphasis on their incorporation into biomedical applications, this chapter examines the fundamental ideas and categories of additive manufacturing technologies use in this field. It goes over important materials like metals, ceramics, biocompatible polymers, and bioinks and looks at how they are used to create implants, prosthetics, dental equipment, and bioprinted tissues. The chapter also discusses contemporary difficulties, such as material constraints, regulatory barriers, and problems with biological integration. It concludes by outlining the future directions of the process and highlighting its revolutionary potential in regenerative healthcare and personalized medicine.
