Atypical parenthood places intense challenges on mothers, involving both emotional and cognitive demands, often related to caring for children with atypical development, disabilities, or special needs. In this context, evidence-based psychology, particularly Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA), offers important resources for understanding and intervention. However, this study proposes reflecting on poetry as a symbolic outlet capable of fostering processes of subjectivity and resistance. Inspired by authors such as Rupi Kaur and Audre Lorde, poetic writing is understood here as a tool for coping with challenges and affirming existence, especially in the face of the risk of social erasure. This bibliographic and qualitative study establishes a dialogue between neuroscience, behavioral psychology, and poetic literature. The results indicate that poetry, when combined with CBT and ABA strategies, can function as a resource for emotional resilience, assisting mothers in reinterpreting their experiences and strengthening their identity. It is therefore concluded that poetic writing expands mental health care practices by integrating science and art in coping with atypical parenthood.
