Environmental DNA (eDNA) Illumina NovaSeq6000 sequences: Peel River catchment, NSW, Australia, December 2021

Shotgun Illumina NovaSeq6000 sequences were obtained from soil, sediment and water samples collected after a major flood event in the Peel River valley around Tamworth. The dataset comprises a total of 3.025 tera bases and 20 billion paired reads. The aim of the experiment was to assess the feasibility of applying total environmental DNA (eDNA) sequencing for determining distributions, movement and species associations of antimicrobial resistance genes in the environment and how they relate to land use and human population density. We also used this dataset to demonstrate the feasibility of total ultra-deep shotgun eDNA sequencing for simultaneous monitoring of abundance and distribution of total aquatic biodiversity.
