Illumina MiSeq COI, 16S rDNA and 18S rDNA metabarcode sequences were obtained after PCR amplification of eDNA extracted from water and sediment samples collected from the Murray River in October 2021, March 2022 and April 2023. The dataset comprises a total of xxx giga bases and xx million paired reads. The aim of the experiment was to assess the feasibility of applying environmental DNA (eDNA) metabarcode sequencing for determining distributions, movement and species associations in the environment and how they relate to water use and fish population density.
