This chapter examines the strategic role of cybersecurity in an age of digital interdependence, the rising threat landscape, frameworks for bolstering cyber resilience, instructive case studies, leadership strategies, and metrics for measuring preparedness. Today's infrastructure systems are cyber-physical and deeply interwoven. Organizations are turning to established cybersecurity frameworks and standards to navigate the complex risk environment as roadmaps for resilience. The chapter reviews three illustrative case studies – the Colonial Pipeline ransomware attack, the SolarWinds supply chain compromise, and the Ukrainian power grid attacks – analyzing their impact and what they teach about building cyber-resilient systems. It outlines a roadmap for leaders, emphasizing foresight, investment, collaboration, incident readiness, and a culture of accountability. Leaders and practitioners need effective ways to measure readiness to manage and improve cybersecurity resilience. Unlike traditional engineering domains, cybersecurity lacks a single silver bullet metric, but a combination of indices, scoring systems, and assessment tools can provide a meaningful picture.
