Utilization of online resources as a predictor of principals’ administrative effectiveness in public secondary schools in Aniocha South Local Government Area, Delta State, Nigeria

This study examined the relationship between utilization of online resources and principals’ administrative effectiveness in Aniocha South Local government area of Delta State, Nigeria. Two null hypotheses were formulated to guide the study. The design adopted for the study was correlational survey research design. The population of the study comprised all 63 school principals in 21 public secondary schools in Aniocha South Local Government Area of Delta State. This number includes 21 principals and 42 vice principals. Census method was used in this study. The instrument used for data collection was a questionnaire designed on a four-point Likert scale of Strongly Agree (SA), Agree (A), Disagree (D) and Strongly Disagree (SD), titled “Utilization of Online Resources and Principals’ Administrative Effectiveness Questionnaire (UORPAEQ).” It was validated by experts in Educational Management, Test, Measure and Evaluation, University of Calabar. The reliability test using Cronbach’s alpha yielded coefficients ranging from .80 to .82. The null hypotheses were tested at .05 level of significance using Simple Regression Analysis. The result of the study revealed that utilization of learning management systems and utilization of video conferencing tools significantly predicts principals’ administrative effectiveness. Based on the findings of the study, the study concluded that utilization of online resources significantly predicts principals’ administrative effectiveness in Aniocha South Local Government Area of Delta State. The study recommended among others that: Secondary school principals should be encouraged to integrate learning management systems into daily school administration, as this will enhance efficiency in planning, monitoring, and coordination of academic and administrative activities.
