Renewing JEBAT’s Direction in 2026: Strengthening Sustainability, Visibility, and Growth

We are pleased to once again confirm the new direction of the Journal of Environmental Bioremediation and Toxicology (JEBAT) in this issue, as it continues to address advances in environmental science, biotechnology and sustainability. Since 2013, JEBAT has served as a platform for scholarly research in the fields of environmental biochemistry, bioremediation and toxicology. With the growing complexity of the environmental and technological challenges, the journal has expanded its scope to stay relevant to the evolving needs of the global scientific community. JEBAT is now open for papers dealing with interdisciplinary research in the fields of environmental biotechnology, molecular and systems biology, toxicology and risk assessment, bioeconomy, sustainable bioremediation and related fields. This broader scope reflects our commitment to advancing research that impacts the bridge between scientific discovery and practical solutions and supporting the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. For the purpose of reinforcing the visibility of this commitment, sustainability-related SDG indicators have also been integrated on the front page of the journal. JEBAT had a tough year in 2025 The journal received less suitable manuscripts than expected, leading to publication performance slightly below expectations. So the journal could not proceed with its planned MyCite application. However, we see this setback as an opportunity to reinforce our editorial processes, improve the quality and consistency of our published content, and increase engagement with researchers. As we move through 2026 we are hoping to receive enough high quality manuscripts to support regular publication and look at MyCite indexing in the future. We cordially invite researchers, practitioners and policy makers to submit original research articles, reviews, short communications and interdisciplinary studies related to innovative approaches to environmental protection and sustainability. With continuous collaboration between authors, reviewers, editors and readers, JEBAT is committed to increasing its international presence and making a meaningful contribution to a sustainable future based on science, ethics, innovation and collaboration.
