These datasets contain two time series data from Acoustic Doppler Current Profilers (ADCPs) as raw format (.AD2CP) and as post-processed files (.mat). The ADCPs (Signature1000, Nortek) were deployed at two moorings in the Norwegian Trench, one located at the shelf-edge towards the Norwegian Sea to capture the cross-shelf exchange flows (L1), and the other in the middle of the trench at approximately 35 km distance from the Norwegian coastline to capture the outflowing waters of the North Sea (L2). The ADCP at L1 recorded data from June 8, 2023, to May 5, 2024, and the ADCP at L2 from June 12, 2023, to May 2, 2024. The instruments were mounted on both mooring lines at a height of 20 m above the seafloor, looking downward. At L1, a profile from 384 - 363 m depth was recorded and at L2 a profile from 293 - 272 m was recorded. The data were recorded at a frequency of 2 Hz, with a burst length of 69 seconds and a burst interval of 10 minutes. We used the code from Thomson (2022) for data post-processing. We corrected the ENU transformed data using the suggested thresholds of minimum correlation = 50 %, minimum amplitude = 30 dB and maximum amplitude = 80 dB for Nortek instruments. These datasets provide high-resolution data spanning one year on near-bed currents in the Norwegian Trench. These observations contribute to our understanding of the exchange between the North Sea and the Atlantic Ocean, can be used for model validation, and support future studies on regional circulation and sediment transport processes in submarine trenches.
