Sex attractants for the males of the genus Dyspessa Hübner, 1820 (Lepidoptera: Cossidae)

The males of Dyspessa infuscata (Seitz, 1912) and D. ulula (Borkhausen, 1790) (Lepidoptera, Cossidae) were attracted by synthetic sex attractants in the Crimea. This is the first record on the chemical structure of the sex attractants for representatives of the genus Dyspessa Hübner, 1820. The results are briefly discussed with regard to sex attractants and pheromones already known for this family. The name ‘infuscata’ in Endagria ulula ab. infuscata published by Staudinger (1892) is infrasubspecific; it is available as a species-group name from, and should be attributed to, Seitz (1912) who first used it for a subspecies, Dyspessa ulula infuscata. D. ulula is recorded for Yevpatoriya, Belogorsk District and Sudak for the first time.
