This study aimed to compare the effects of Problem Based Learning and Project Based Learning on students' learning independence in Physical Education, Sports, and Health (PJOK). A quantitative approach with a pretest-posttest comparison group design was employed. The study involved 64 students of MAN 3 Tasikmalaya selected through purposive sampling and assigned to the Problem Based Learning and Project Based Learning groups. Data were collected using a validated and reliable learning independence questionnaire. Data analysis included descriptive statistics, normality and homogeneity tests, paired samples t-test, and independent samples t-test. The findings revealed that both learning models improved students' learning independence; however, Problem Based Learning demonstrated a greater effect than Project Based Learning. These findings indicate that problem-based instruction is more effective in fostering independent learning through problem-solving, decision-making, and reflective learning activities. Therefore, Problem Based Learning can be recommended as an alternative instructional model to enhance students' learning independence in PJOK.
