Identification of Nursing Informatics Competencies for Ambulatory Care Nurses in Germany: A Cross-Sectional Survey.

INTRODUCTION: Ambulatory nursing care is increasingly shaped by digital transformation, which requires context-specific competencies. This study aimed to identify the relevance of nursing informatics competencies in the ambulatory care setting in Germany. METHODS: A cross-sectional, anonymous online survey was conducted in which 43 competency areas were rated across five nursing roles using a 0 to 100% scale. Descriptive analyses were performed to identify the top five core competency areas for each role. RESULTS: Across all roles, data protection and privacy competency was consistently rated as highly relevant. CONCLUSION: The findings emphasize the need for targeted education and support the development of a context-specific competency framework.
