We investigated the applicability of the block-shear test for evaluating the material performance of cross-laminated timber. Orthogonally laminated Japanese cedar (Cryptomeria japonica D.Don) specimens were manufactured, and samples were collected in both transverse and diagonal directions. Block-shear tests were conducted to assess the block-shear strength. Multiple regression analysis revealed that specimen density significantly influences block-shear strength, and adhered surfaces may also be a contributing factor. Among the statistical models considered, the log-normal distribution provided the best fit for the data. Based on these findings, we propose strength criteria for the block-shear test.
