Nichinan Town has been promoting compact town development by centralizing public utility facilities under the “Central Area Development Project.” This study assesses the following: The situation regarding the utilization of the closed school buildings remaining in the old village districts after the consolidation and the launch of businesses. The actual state of the pioneering mutual assistance efforts in the Tari district, which aim to provide shopping support to older adult households and brand the natural environment. The actual state of collaboration between the town development council and businesses to solve the problems in the old village districts.
