Group Dynamics Of The “Mina Muda Makmur” Fish Farmers Group In Lempake Sub- District, North Samarinda District, Samarinda City

Lempake is one of eight sub-districts in North Samarinda District, Samarinda City, with considerable potential for freshwater aquaculture. Local communities utilise public water resources through earthen ponds and tarpaulin ponds, with the latter commonly established on residential land. Initially, fish farming activities were carried out individually. However, farmers later recognised the importance of establishing a fish farmer group (Pokdakan) to strengthen cooperation, improve knowledge sharing, and fulfil administrative requirements for obtaining government assistance from the Samarinda City Fisheries Department. Consequently, in 2022, with support from the department, the “Mina Muda Makmur Fish Farmers Group” was officially established. This study is meant to explain who the Mina Muda Makmur Fish Farmers Group and analyse its level of group dynamics. A qualitative descriptive approach was employed using survey methods. The research utilised both primary and secondary data were gathered using observation, interviews, documentation, and relevant literature. The findings reveal that the Mina Muda Makmur Fish Farmers Group was established on 28 December 2022 and officially recognised by the Samarinda City Department of Fisheries and Marine Affairs in the same year. The group consists of 11 members, including a chairperson, secretary, treasurer, supervisor, and members. The group cultivates catfish (Clarias batrachus) and gourami (Osphronemus goramy), while marketing its products through collectors and social media platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp. As a beginner-level fish farmer group, Mina Muda Makmur demonstrated a Highly Dynamic level of group dynamics, indicating effective cooperation, participation, communication, and organisational performance among its members.
