Psychological well-being has become a central topic in sport psychology as the field has shifted toward a strengths-based approach, recognizing its role in promoting athletes' mental health, optimal performance, and sustained participation in sport (Pedhu, 2022; Wang et al., 2025; Wisata et al., 2025). Previous reviews have examined psychological well-being across various populations, while reviews focusing specifically on adolescent athletes remain limited and have largely emphasized professional athletes or athletes in general (Prior et al., 2022; Rice et al., 2016). Moreover, existing reviews have provided limited discussion of the determinants, theoretical frameworks, and sociocultural factors influencing psychological well-being during adolescence. Therefore, this review aims to comprehensively synthesize the evidence on psychological well-being among adolescent athletes, including its determinants, theoretical perspectives, research methods, and current research gaps.
