The article discusses key aspects of Parkinson's disease epidemiology at the global level and in the Russian Federation. The data from modern studies, along with the analysis of trends, indicate a steady increase in key epidemiological indicators, including prevalence, incidence, and mortality. Particular attention is paid to the results of Russian regional epidemiological studies, considering their methodological features and limitations. We consider genetic factors, including the most common ones in the Russian population, as well as other risk factors and protective factors that have a significant impact on the epidemiological landscape of the disease. Also, the challenges associated with the analysis and interpretation of epidemiological studies are addressed.
