Cervical aortic arch with severe left ventricular dysfunction in a neonate: successful repair using whole-body perfusion.

The cervical aortic arch, first described by Reid, is a rare congenital anomaly of the aortic arch. We report the surgical management of a neonate with a right cervical arch with coarctation, a contralateral descending thoracic aorta, and severely reduced left ventricular function. Arch repair with aortic uncrossing was performed under whole-body perfusion, achieved by simultaneously cannulating the aortic arch and the descending thoracic aorta.
