Co-usage of Improvement Methodologies

This chapter focuses on the use of different methodologies within the organization together. Each management approach requires embedding in the organizational system to function practically and bring expected results. The system layers of Lean Management, Six Sigma, and the Theory of Constraints are analyzed, along with specific organizational roles and types of practical methods. The methodologies face many challenges, and numerous shortcomings are reported. Therefore, companies search for better methodologies and implement more than one of them. This chapter presents empirical evidence regarding the simultaneous application of various management methodologies by companies. The concept of Constraint-Driven Lean Six Sigma is elaborated; this is a brief guide to what is crucial when using all three approaches together. Smart integration of these methodologies might lead to the emergence of a powerful improvement system, possibly assuring the most advantageous trajectory of an organization’s system productivity growth.
