The story snaps back to September 2026, to a present-day boardroom, where a series of future-scenario tests is being worked through. The Bull collapse, supply-chain failures, and Black Thursday are still just hypothetical case studies—lines on a risk slide, not headlines—and the board treats them as safely distant. Each scenario exposes a different blind spot: unmapped dependencies in the Digital Watershed, unpriced Risk Debt, and decisions made without any Cognitive Handshake discipline. This closing chapter strips away the thriller surface and speaks directly to the reader’s organization. It lays out a 90-day “2026 Imperative”: map critical AI uses and data flows, quantify and surface Risk Debt, treat data as capital with verifiable lineage, and hard-wire hybrid cognition into board and executive decisions. The crisis in the book is fictional. The decision window it sketches is not.
