Nurse faculty created an innovative service-based learning opportunity to raise awareness about infant mortality while offering senior nursing students a leadership opportunity in promoting perinatal public health. To evaluate its impact, student perceptions were analyzed using a pretest-posttest survey, and debriefing sessions for faculty were facilitated. The strategy increased student confidence and their ability to provide patient education.
