Abstract In the context of the current socio-environmental crisis, environmental education is consolidating as a key educational field to promote ecological awareness and transformative action within school settings. This study aimed to diagnose the knowledge, attitudes, and practices (KAP) related to environmental education among female students at the Sagrados Corazones Educational Institution (Florencia, Caquetá, Colombian Amazon) and examined the role of digital media in shaping eco-digital learning. A mixed-methods design with a descriptive-interpretative approach was implemented, integrating statistical analysis of data obtained through a five point Likert-type questionnaire with qualitative coding of focus group discussions processed using Atlas.ti. The results reveal high levels of situated environmental knowledge and favorable attitudes, yet a limited consolidation of sustainable practices, particularly in digitally mediated contexts. Specific gaps emerged in critical environmental digital literacy, especially in students’ ability to evaluate credibility, interpret environmental discourse, and mobilize digital participation toward ecosocial action. These findings reaffirm the persistent gap between knowing, valuing, and acting, while providing empirical evidence that exposure to environmental content in digital media does not automatically translate into ecological agency without explicit pedagogical mediation. Finally, the study outlines the foundations of the NatuRed strategy, aimed at fostering eco-digital transformative learning to strengthen critical literacy and situated ecosocial praxis in school contexts.
