Exploiting isomorphisms: Model-based moral education in an era of ubiquitous AI

原始摘要(英文原文)· Original abstract
This article begins with Seanna Moran on prosocial purpose, notes a four-step process from Moran et al. describing moral development, then compares other model accounts. These appear similar, so the question becomes why. This article answers that they represent common neurological processes. Sections 2 and 3 survey cognitive science research to describe development of neurological processes associated with prosocial purpose correlated with model accounts introduced in the first section. Evidence for the negative consequences of distracting technologies including AI on processes associated with purpose development is established through the review. Section 4 discusses the results of model comparisons with systems neurology, and implications for AI use in education. The article concludes with a warning against AI in moral education, in favor of human teachers whose purpose in life or ‘calling’ it is to support student purpose development.
