Fieldwork conducted in 2023 at Zerrouka Lake, Middle Atlas, Morocco, revealed Tinodes specimens distinct from T. waeneri Linnaeus, Citation1758, justifying the designation of a new subspecies: Tinodes waeneri zerroukensis Ibrahimi, Mabrouki, and Taybi, ssp. n. The new subspecies is characterised by the broad and bifid dorsal and intermediate branches of the paraproctal process, and the acuminate ventral process of the basal plate.
