Photoredox decarbonylative Truce-Smiles rearrangement of N-sulfonylbenzamides with BrF2COR.

A visible-light-induced photoredox decarbonylative Truce-Smiles rearrangement reaction of N-sulfonylbenzamides with bromodifluoroacetates and bromodifluoroacetamides is described, enabling efficient synthesis of fluoroalkyl β-phenethylamine derivatives in moderate to excellent yields. This synergistic protocol involves photoredox catalysis and water participation and features high chemoselectivity for decarbonylative rearrangement of N-sulfonylbenzamides over desulfonation.
