An electrochemical glycosylation protocol employing para-methoxyphenyl vinyl benzoate (PMPVB) donors provides glycosides in high yields. This method is effective for O-, S-, and 2-deoxy glycosides and is compatible with various protecting groups. Mechanistic studies indicate that the reaction proceeds via a radical pathway, generating an alkene radical cation.
