This work presents a comprehensive review and integrative perspective of the five frameworks that shape the contemporary energy market, specifically 5Ds (decarbonization, deregulation, decentralization, democratization, and digitalization). The study explores the potential interconnections of these structures and how they are driving the evolution of the modern energy market. Therefore, it is clear that the 5Ds are key elements for transitioning towards a more sustainable, fair, and resilient energy market. The 5Ds have a combined potential to create a more integrated and adaptive energy system, promoting significant efficiency, enabling sustainable energy resources, and enhancing energy access. Through the synergy of these conceptual frameworks, the energy sector can address the growing challenges of climate change, market volatility, and energy inequality while advancing innovation and the creation of new business models. However, significant challenges remain in terms of policy alignment, investment requirements, technological advancements, and the need for global collaboration to fully realize the potential of these frameworks. Therefore, this study is a hub for various stakeholders seeking to advance a competitive, efficient, inclusive, reliable, resilient, and sustainable energy market. It also serves as a foundational reference for future policy formulation and program development for autonomous energy market implementation.
