Scientific Writing– an Editor’s Memo to Emerging Authors-1

Scientific writing is a global and public good. The concept of scientific writing and scientific journals as we know them evolved over time. The 2,000-plus years of evolution of scientific writing may have started with Archimedes’s On Floating Bodies in 250 BCE [ 1 ]. The concept was institutionalized in 1805, when the Royal Medical Society of Edinburgh established The Edinburgh Medical and Surgical Journal , later known as The Edinburgh Medical Journal , ² and followed by the founding in 1823 of The Lancet. [ 2 ]
