Construction of an evaluation index system for caregiving quality of elderly patients with mental disorders

ObjectiveTo construct a scientific and systematic evaluation index system for caregiving quality of elderly patients with mental disorders,and to provide scientific basis for clinical practice,policy development,and improvement of caregiving quality.MethodsThe initial indicator pool was developed through literature review and the Delphi expert consultation method.The analytic hierarchy process(AHP) was adopted to determine the weights of indicators at all levels in the evaluation index system for caregiving quality of elderly patients with mental disorders.ResultsTwo rounds of expert consultations were conducted.The effective questionnaire recovery rate were both 100% in two rounds.The expert authority coefficient were both 0.893 in two rounds.The Kendall's coordination coefficients of the two rounds were ranged from 0.57 to 0.66 and from 0.68 to 0.78 respectively(both P<0.01).The coefficients of variation ranged from 0.121 7 to 0.341 2 and from 0.064 4 to 0.228 1 respectively.The finally constructed evaluation index system for caregiving quality of elderly patients with mental disorders consisted of 4 dimensions(physical health,mental health,caregiving ethics and social support),including 13 primary indicators,27 secondary indicators and 44 tertiary indicators.ConclusionsThe evaluation index system for caregiving quality of elderly patients with mental disorders constructed in this study is scientific and practical.It could provide reference for standardized evaluation of caregiving quality in elderly patients with mental disorders,so as to improve the overall caregiving quality.
