Negative outcomes related to interruptions, distractions, and self-distractions during medication preparation and administration by nursing professionals in hospital settings: a scoping review

This scoping review aims to map the negative outcomes associated with interruptions, distractions, and self-distractions during medication preparation and/or administration performed by nursing professionals in hospital settings. The review will follow the Joanna Briggs Institute (JBI) methodology for scoping reviews and the PRISMA-ScR reporting guideline. The review question is: “What negative outcomes are associated with interruptions, distractions, and self-distractions during medication preparation and/or administration by nursing professionals?” The PCC framework adopted is: Population: nursing professionals Concept: negative outcomes associated with interruptions, distractions, and self-distractions Context: medication preparation and/or administration in hospital settings The search strategy will include the databases PubMed, Scopus, Web of Science, and the Virtual Health Library (BVS), including LILACS and BDENF. Original studies published in Portuguese, English, and Spanish will be considered, with no time restriction. Study selection will be conducted independently by reviewers using Rayyan.
