Educational innovation in higher education has been widely studied, yet there remains a lack of an integral and longitudinal systematization that allows for understanding the evolution of its trends over the past decade. This article addresses this gap through a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) following the guidelines of the PRISMA Declaration, in order to ensure methodological rigor and reliability of the results. The search was conducted in the Scopus and Web of Science databases, initially identifying 3.675 documents. After applying inclusion and exclusion criteria (language, open access, thematic relevance, and timeframe 2013-2025), 395 articles were selected for the final analysis. The results show that educational innovation is a broad and constantly evolving concept, integrating active methodologies, collaborative learning, competency-based education, gamification, and digital technologies linked to Education 4.0. A growing interest is also evident in the incorporation of Industry 4.0 tools and hybrid, virtual, and face-to-face modalities. The bibliometric mapping carried out with VOSviewer identified seven thematic clusters that reflect the main lines of research and future projections. It is concluded that educational innovation constitutes a strategic field for guiding institutional and public policies in higher education.
