Background: Pruritus is one of the most common complications experienced by patients with chronic kidney disease undergoing hemodialysis. It causes considerable discomfort and negatively affects patients' quality of life. Various non-pharmacological interventions have been used as complementary therapies to reduce pruritus; however, scientific evidence from Indonesian studies remains scattered across publications. Objective: To analyze the scientific evidence regarding the effectiveness of non-pharmacological interventions in reducing pruritus among patients with chronic kidney disease undergoing hemodialysis in Indonesia. Methods: This study employed a literature review design. Articles were searched through Google Scholar in July 2026 using combinations of keywords related to pruritus, hemodialysis, non-pharmacological interventions, and Indonesia. The inclusion criteria comprised original research articles available in full text, published between 2021 and 2026, that involved patients with chronic kidney disease undergoing hemodialysis in Indonesia and evaluated non-pharmacological interventions for pruritus. Results: A total of 10 articles met the inclusion criteria and were analyzed descriptively. Most studies employed a quasi-experimental design. The identified interventions included Virgin Coconut Oil (VCO), olive oil, olive oil emollient, a combination of stroking massage and sunflower oil, peppermint aromatherapy, and oat lotion. All included studies reported significant reductions in pruritus severity following non-pharmacological interventions (p < 0.05), although variations existed in study design, intervention duration, and outcome measurement instruments. Conclusion: Various non-pharmacological interventions have the potential to reduce pruritus severity in patients with chronic kidney disease undergoing hemodialysis in Indonesia. Nevertheless, further studies with more rigorous research designs and larger sample sizes are needed to strengthen the existing scientific evidence.
