Ecoprint Pounding and Steaming Training for Early Childhood Teachers in Manyar, Gresik

This community service program strengthened early childhood teachers’ capacity to develop environmentally oriented learning media through ecoprint pounding and steaming. The activity involved 86 participants representing 32 early childhood education institutions in Manyar District, Gresik Regency, Indonesia. A participatory model combined needs assessment, conceptual orientation, demonstration, guided practice, artifact review, and reflection across three sessions on 23–25 June 2026. Participants produced leaf-printed tote bags through pounding and fabric panels through leaf arrangement, blanket layering, rolling, steaming, mordanting, and shade drying. Observation and documentation showed active participation, completion of both production sequences, and improved confidence in selecting local plants and organizing motifs. Participants also requested follow-up activities using different media. The program indicates that ecoprint can serve as a feasible, locally resourced, and creative learning-media option for early childhood settings. However, the evaluation relied on process observation and products rather than standardized pretest–posttest measures. Future programs should assess knowledge retention, classroom implementation, and child learning outcomes.
