Oral leukoplakia and oral submucous fibrosis (OSMF) are potentially malignant disorders with a significant risk of progressing to oral cancer. Oxidative stress is a key factor in their development, causing cellular damage and disease progression. Therefore, it is of interest to evaluate and compare salivary oxidative stress markers in patients with these conditions. Data shows high levels of oxidative stress and lower antioxidant levels in both conditions compared to healthy controls, with OSMF showing severe imbalance. Thus, we show salivary oxidative stress markers as potential non-invasive diagnostic tools for early detection and monitoring of oral potentially malignant disorders.
