The History of Bangladeshi Cinema and Its Reflected Philosophy

This study examined the evolution of Bangladeshi cinema as both an artistic medium and a cultural mirror that reflected the nation’s historical struggles, aspirations, and philosophical consciousness. Beginning in the late colonial period and continuing into the early decades after independence, Bangladeshi cinema emerged as a significant platform for addressing questions of national identity, social justice, and collective liberation. This research explored how Bangladeshi films generated philosophical reflections on nationalism, liberation, class struggle, gender, and spirituality. By tracing the interplay between historical context and cinematic expression, the study found that Bangladeshi cinema functioned not merely as entertainment but as a complex philosophical discourse negotiating tensions between tradition and modernity, despair and hope, and realism and abstraction.
