The Role of Pidie District Education in Developing Education Management to Improve Quality of High School

This study aims to analyze the role of the Pidie Regency Regional Education Office in developing educational management to improve the quality of senior high schools. The research employed a qualitative descriptive approach and was conducted at the Pidie Regency Regional Education Office and several senior high schools under its supervision. Data were collected through interviews, observations, and documentation, and analyzed using the Miles, Huberman, and Saldaña model, which includes data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The findings reveal that the Regional Education Office plays a strategic role through guidance, supervision, coordination, facilitation, and evaluation functions. Various programs have been implemented to enhance school quality, including periodic supervision, teacher and principal competency development, curriculum assistance, monitoring and evaluation systems, and the improvement of educational facilities and infrastructure. These efforts have contributed positively to strengthening school management, improving the quality of learning, and enhancing overall educational performance. The study also identified supporting factors, such as government policy support, commitment from school leaders and teachers, active school supervisors, stakeholder collaboration, and the utilization of information technology. However, several challenges remain, including budget limitations, unequal teacher competencies, inadequate facilities and infrastructure, geographical constraints, and limited use of technology in some schools. The study concludes that the Pidie Regency Regional Education Office has made a significant contribution to improving educational management and school quality, although further efforts are needed to ensure sustainable and equitable educational development across all senior high schools in the region.
