The article examines the specific features of the legal regulation of crimes against humanity in international criminal law, using Article 7 of the Rome Statute of the International Criminal Court (ICC) as an example. Particular attention is paid to Article 7(1)(k), which provides for an open-ended category of “other inhumane acts”. The paper also analyzes the difficulties in applying Article 7 due to the lack of clear criteria, as well as the risks associated with analogy and expansive interpretation. The author notes that this may pose a threat to the principle of legality. In addition, the practice of international tribunals and the ICC, as well as doctrinal approaches to the interpretation and application of Article 7(1)(k), are discussed.
