The Impact of AI-Based Applications on Payroll Management and Recruitment Processes in Private Universities and Colleges in Oman

Artificial Intelligence (AI) is one of the most versatile innovations to date and plays a major role within the world of business. It made major changes to organization management of daily activities in terms of tasks automation, processing large amounts of information, and the enhancement of accuracy and efficiency. Within Human Resource Management and Finance sector, AI has significantly made positive impact particularly upon recruitment and payroll management. AI as technology saves time, decreases errors and improves informed decisions of organizations.AI-based systems are common in the application of handling payroll calculations, identifying qualified candidates and ascertain compliance related to taxation and compensation policies. AI also provides comprehensive perspectives for managers to craft improved strategic decisions, increase transparency and aggregate work performance by the employees. However, organizations still face challenges despite the advantages during the application of AI, which include algorithms bias, high costs of implementation, privacy risk and resistance being shown by employees due to the setup of new systems.This study focuses on private universities and colleges in Oman, such as Majan University College, Mazoon College, Al Sharqiyah University, and Middle East College, etc., because these institutions have well-structured HR departments that manage complex recruitment, payroll, and employee management processes. Private higher education institutions in Oman are increasingly adopting digital technologies to improve efficiency, transparency, and decision-making within HR functions. Focusing on these universities and colleges allows the study to examine real-world HR practices, assess the impact of AI on recruitment and payroll activities, and understand how AI can support fairness, efficiency, and sustainable development within the work environment.
