Business in the energy sector is a concern for many entrepreneurs worldwide as a profitable venture. The privatization and open-market policy adopted by the Nepal government encourages private-sector involvement in the hydro business. This study investigates whether Nepalese investors are interested in the hydro business and what factors affect an entrepreneur's intention to invest in this business. Taking Psychological well-being, government role, risk-taking behavior and self-confidence as the major factors affecting entrepreneurs’ intention in the hydropower business, a research model was developed. The model was tested by using structural equation modelling. A structured questionnaire was used to collect data from 510 Nepalese entrepreneurs across different parts of the country. Psychological Wellbeing, Government Role and Self-efficacy were found to be the most influential factors affecting the intention of Nepalese entrepreneurs in the hydro power business sector.
