Consensus statements from the Vietnam Interventional Gastroenterological Endoscopy Society on bowel preparation for colonoscopy.

Adequate bowel preparation is a key determinant of colonoscopy quality. However, no national consensus for adequate bowel preparation currently exists in Vietnam, and international guidelines may not fully reflect local clinical practice and healthcare settings. Using a two-round modified Delphi process, an expert consensus was developed by the Vietnam Interventional Gastroenterological Endoscopy Society. A steering committee drafted the initial statements on the basis of international guidelines and key published evidence while accounting for the Vietnamese healthcare context. Forty-five Vietnamese gastroenterologists participated in the structured reviews, feedback, and voting. The overall development process was informed by the AGREE II framework to enhance methodological consistency and transparency. Consensus was defined as agreement by ≥80% of panel members. Nine consensus statements on bowel preparation for colonoscopy were finalized, each accompanied by a level of agreement and a brief summary of the supporting evidence. This national expert consensus provides practical, evidence-based recommendations adapted to the Vietnamese healthcare context, with the aim of standardizing clinical practice and improving colonoscopy quality.
