On 21 June 2021, southern Romania was affected by complex convective weather events characterized by intense atmospheric instability and significant lightning activity. This study investigates the meteorological and electrical conditions during these episodes for two cities: Bucharest and Craiova. The analysis is based on METAR observational data, synoptic maps from www.wetter3.de and satellite imagery from NASA Worldview. The atmospheric parameters analyzed include air temperature, dew point temperature, precipitation, wind speed and direction, peak gust and atmospheric pressure. The work also highlights thunderstorm activity and lightning detection data (from www.Blitzortung.org and www.LightningMaps.org), which are essential for understanding local convective processes. Hourly plots and synoptic evolution and satellite data confirm the role of mesoscale dynamics in the initiation and development of convective storms. The results reveal clear correlations between sudden dew point increases, pressure drops, wind gust intensification, and the timing of lightning activity. The comparison of these variables for the two cities contributes to a better understanding of the development of severe weather events on a regional scale.
