Acute Bilateral Diaphragmatic Weakness as a Presentation of Parsonage-Turner Syndrome.

Neuralgic amyotrophy (NA), also known as Parsonage-Turner syndrome, is an uncommon inflammatory neuropathy characterized by acute neuropathic pain followed by muscle weakness and atrophy. Phrenic nerve involvement leading to diaphragmatic dysfunction is rare and may represent a diagnostic challenge, particularly in postoperative patients in whom alternative cardiopulmonary etiologies coexist.
