Background: Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) represents a significant health and economic burden. TBI can negatively impact quality of life (QoL) and occupational performance. Our study aims to examine incidence, clinical profile and outcomes in TBI patients admitted to a healthcare facility in an industrial township. Material and Methods: This hospital-based retrospective-prospective cohort study evaluated 400 adult patients (retrospective: n=236, October-December 2024; prospective: n=164, January-April 2025) admitted with traumatic brain injury to a multi-specialty healthcare facility in the industrial township of Durgapur, West Bengal. Socio-demographic indicators, mechanism of trauma, clinical severity, radiological patterns, and status at discharge were comprehensively analyzed. Results: The 30-39 age category was most affected (37.8%), predominantly due to workplace falls (42.3%). On admission, 65% presented with mild, 20% moderate, and 15% severe TBI. Intracranial imaging revealed subdural hematoma (40%) as the primary lesion, followed by hemorrhagic contusions (22.5%). Operative intervention was required in 49% cases, while 51% were managed conservatively. The overall in-hospital mortality rate was 10%, strictly localized to patients presenting with severe clinical degradation indicated by low Glasgow Coma Scale scores (<8). Conclusion: High prevalence of workplace injuries identified in this cohort underscores critical target areas for safety rules enforcement. These findings provide vital baseline data that can inform the development of targeted occupational surveillance and protective safety protocols within industrial environments.
