The direction and magnitude of soil organic carbon stock (SOCS) changes following land use and land cover change (LULCC) remain highly uncertain, primarily due to a lack of relevant, comprehensive global soil data. Although substantial efforts have established SOCS databases at regional, national, and sub-continental scales, an open-access global database incorporating explicit environmental drivers is urgently needed to better understand the impacts of LULCC on SOCS dynamics. Here, we present the Global Soil Organic Carbon Stock dataset after Land Use and Land Cover Change (GSOCS-LULCC). Compiled from 912 peer-reviewed articles up to December 2025, this dataset spans five major land uses (cropland, grassland, forest, plantation and savanna) yielding 8,748 harmonized records from 1,967 sites across various sampling depths. GSOCS-LULCC serves as a vital resource for evaluating the global effects of LULCC on SOCS and identifying the primary environmental factors driving carbon stock variations across different ecosystem transitions.
