Skin cancer is a common and dangerous disease that results from the abnormal growth of skin cells. It is primarily caused by excessive exposure to ultraviolet (UV) radiation from sunlight or artificial tanning devices. When UV radiation damages the DNA of skin cells, it disrupts their normal growth and division, leading to the formation of malignant tumors. The three main types of skin cancer are melanoma, basal cell carcinoma, and squamous cell carcinoma, each of which differs in severity and ability to spread to other parts of the body. Since skin cancer most often appears on the surface of the skin, early detection through self-examination and regular skin exams is very important. Preventive strategies such as using sunscreen, wearing protective clothing, and minimizing UV exposure play a key role in reducing the risk. Ongoing research and public awareness efforts contribute significantly to improving diagnosis, treatment, and survival rates. In medical decision-making, the weighted sum model is used to evaluate and rank various treatment options. This method assigns weights to important criteria such as effectiveness, survival rate, side effects, pain management, cosmetic outcome, cost and recovery time. Treatment alternatives including surgery, radiation therapy, chemotherapy, immunotherapy, targeted therapy, photodynamic therapy, cryotherapy and herbal remedies are evaluated and multiplied by their weights. Based on the overall rating, targeted therapy received the highest ranking, while herbal remedies received the lowest ranking.
