This chapter explores critical global citizenship education (CGCE) as it is developed in an International Baccalaureate international school in Azerbaijan. Following an outline of literature relating to CGCE, the authors highlight, through qualitative data, the significance of dünya. Dünya, roughly translated from Azerbaijani to English, is a way of being for and of the world. Of Arabic origin, the term means “the world,” “this life,” or “the present world.” Dünya rests on the premise that human relations, well-being, and sustainable practices are dependent on our worldview. The authors subsequently analyze dünya enacted through the conceptualizations of Hodgson et al. (2018) and also the thinking of Bruno Latour (1993) , influencing the transnational modalities and micro-symbolic globalities present and formulated in teaching and learning.
