Otto Bauer on Economic Crises

I begin by summarising Otto Bauer&s;s views on economic crises as set out in his 1925 pamphlet on their causes and cures. I then compare them with his pre-1914 analyses of crises, which were much more analytical and explicitly Marxist in nature. I conclude by discussing his theoretical work on crises after 19289, with particular reference to his published work in 1931 ( Rationalisation and False Rationalisation ) and 1936 ( Between Two World Wars ) and an unpublished manuscript from 1932 to 1935, which was recently transcribed and edited by Michal Krätke.
