Introduction

This collection seeks to contribute to the growing corpus of research concerned with sensing multispecies encounters through art, materiality and performance. While all contributions in this volume are enmeshed in multispecies networks, we have structured this book into two broad themes: Multispecies Landscapes and Materials and Multispecies Encounters – we recognised that chapters could have been organised according to infinite combinations. Part 1 , Multispecies Landscapes and Materials, is composed of four chapters that examine the juxtaposition of humans, other-than-human landscapes, and materials such as clay and earth in past and present times. Part 2 presents the theme of multispecies engagements and takes us across different temporalities and localities.
