Conclusions

This section summarises the main argument of the book by pointing out three fundamental axes emerging from the entanglements between racism and neoliberalism. First, by tracing back wider historical interdependencies between racism, colonialism and different forms of capitalism, it shows how these genealogies have been played out in Poland’s history and politics of (racialised) inclusion and exclusion. Second, it emphasises the importance of experiential aspects of racism by exploring middling migrants’ lived experiences and problematising their racialised encounters vis-à-vis different urban settings and scales. And third, it shows how middling migrants’ subjectivities reproduce the racialised logic of neoliberal capitalism and how they shape their coping strategies. The conclusion section also presents broader implications of the conducted research, indicates its limitations and points out potential new research directions.
